Many mums of children with learning disabilities become their main carers. The children's difficulties range in severity but can include physical disability/ epilepsy/ deafness/ blindness/ behavioural problems. None of the mums photographed are looking for glory, but all deserve recognition for their selfless care of their children and the sacrifices made along the way. The hardest question I asked them was 'what makes you you?' It had been a long time since they'd considered their own identities. They were all photographed in locations that they chose, and where they most feel like themselves.
